HeroCraft: Some Sick Art

It's only been a few days since my last post, but I am far too excited to not write. Dima, the artist involved with my humble project, produced and sent me the first consigned piece of art. We started with a Monster design, and I picked my favorite: a western beastie called Relkor. When I created the Relkor, I was heavily influenced by a monster design from my days playing Everquest 2. I sent Dima a few additional ideas from games like Morrowind and Dark Souls and waited to see what he came up with. To say I was blown away is an understatement.

The Relkor was once a trio of mages who, like many before them, were seduced by the idea of immortality as liches. They achieved a lesser form of immortality, but at  great cost. The ritual failed in a peculiar way, binding them into a single tormented being. The Relkor wanders, its immense power shackled by an intense desire to inflict pain on those that still have the breath of life.

Aside from art, I made the changes to the Fame system as well as a suite of minor and major tweaks. I wasn't ready for another playtest, but my friends asked to play HeroCraft following our Risk Legacy session. The changes worked exactly as I hoped, and the pacing turned out great. I'm really excited to add a few new Attributes and try it again. If all goes well the next step is to prepare for a massive cold test!
